US Vice President Kamala Harris is on a visit to Poland. During a conversation with Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on Thursday, she said she was “here on NATO’s eastern flank to reaffirm the United States’ commitment to its obligations to Poland and other NATO allies.”

Vice President Harris began her official visit to Poland Thursday morning with a meeting with Prime Minister Morawiecki. The beginning of their conversation was open to the media. Kamala Harris stipulated that she would have liked the circumstances of the meeting to be different.

Russia’s invasion. Mateusz Morawiecki: Ukrainians are fighting for the freedom of all of Europe

We need to take some time to discuss how to help the Ukrainians maintain their sovereignty and their territorial integrity and their freedom, because they are also fighting for our freedom, they are also fighting for the freedom of all of Europe, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said at the beginning of his meeting with Kamala Harris.

Thank you also for your very courageous decision to embargo Russian gas and oil, because that is what fuels Russia’s war machine, Morawiecki added.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the main topic of Thursday’s conversation between Matthew Morawiecki and Kamala Harris, who arrived in Warsaw on Wednesday evening, will be further coordination of the international community’s response to Russia’s barbaric military aggression against Ukraine, in particular, strengthening comprehensive aid to Ukraine. Further steps to cut off Russia’s funding of the hostilities, including the imposition of sanctions covering the energy sector, will be discussed, it stressed. According to the communiqué, the meeting will provide an opportunity to talk about strengthening NATO’s eastern flank and security in the region.
