The ministry explains that “it is about the absence of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, who is in Silesia”.

The Council of Ministers was scheduled to take up a draft amendment to the personal income tax law on Wednesday, government spokesman Piotr Müller said on Tuesday. However, due to the tragic accident at the Pniówek mine, Prime Minister Morawiecki traveled to Upper Silesia on Wednesday.

Zmiany w podatkach. Co jest w projekcie?

The draft amendment to income taxes proposes lowering the lower PIT rate from 17% to 12% as of July 1 this year. Moreover, the so-called middle class relief will be abolished and entrepreneurs will be able to exclude health insurance premiums from the tax base. The bill also provides for the return to a joint settlement with a child in the case of single parents and an increase in the amount of earnings that a child can achieve without losing tax preferences of parents (from PLN 3089 to PLN 16 061.28 in 2022).

According to the announcement of the Ministry of Finance, although the changes are to take effect from July 1, they will apply to the 2022 tax return to income from the entire current year.
